Paul Esslinger, Oshkosh's Boss Hogg

Please read the NW's editorial today on Appointmentgate.

We're basically in complete agreement with one tiny exception: Esslinger isn't engaging in "Chicago politics." That's giving him too much credit. He's more like Boss Hogg, a bumbling fool who devotes the majority of his mental energy to concocting absurd schemes that seek to consildate power through minimal effort.

Michelle Monte is over on the ONW site serving as mouthpiece for her husband and Paul Esslinger. As usual her post contains sarcasm and snippiness for she knows nothing different. At the end she also calls for term limits. Good idea. The first one to go would be King Esslinger. She ought to be careful what she wishes for.

The only sarcasm and snippiness I see is here from a sour grapes anonymous. She answered questions that were asked of her. She didn't jump in until her name was mentioned despite the fact her husband was being railed on. All she did was answer the questions. And I am grateful for the information. It certainly changes the tone of the discussion. Now the ONW editorial seems much ado about nothing.

I also noticed Cheryl Hentz jumping on the bandwagon of Paul bashing. Ironic since her then good buddy Mel Bloechl appointed Cheryl to the same committee Cheryl still occupies. Pot meet Kettle.

Hmm, I didn't see her husband getting railed on so much as Paul Esslinger's choices being called into question. Nor did I see any Esslinger bashing by Hentz. Perhaps you are too close to the issue and as such being overly sensitive.

Anon. 9:34 you miss the major distinction between what Bloechel did and what Esslinger did... Bloechel appointed a friend to an OPEN seat on a board. Esslinger basically REMOVED someone from the boards to appoint his political cronies... major distinction.

9:34,

You're confused or mistaken. There weren't any questions posed to Mrs. Monte. She stepped into a conversation between other bloggers. Just because the discussion is open to anyone doesn't mean the questions were posed directly to her.

It's a sad day when you have to reference link Boss Hogg to the almighty wiki. Kids these days, no one studies the classics anymore.
