Specialty Brats

Other brat makers in Sheboygan County dabbling in nontraditional flavors include the Sheboygan Bratwurst Company, which ships varieties such as salsa and chicken and wild rice from its Web site (www.bratwurst.net), and worldwide heavyweight Johnsonville, which has beer brats, cheddar bratwurst and a style called Irish O’Garlic among its offerings.

“We’re always on the lookout for new flavors, always on the lookout for ways we can make things more interesting for our consumers,” said Jim Mueller, group marketing manager for Johnsonville Sausage.

“We’ll continue to explore different flavors. But time and time again people keep coming back to our original brat as our best seller,” Mueller said.

That's reassuring.
