Thommy Thompson Blah Blah Blah

Politico, etc.

There's not too much new ground in the article, and certainly nothing that changes our earlier opinion of a potential Thompson run. The article itself appears to be more of a trial balloon itself then something describing a trial balloon -- Thompson's way of telling donors and other allies that he might be getting the band back together or hanging a sign on his front door that reads 'We might be open for business tomorrow or the next day ... but maybe not.'

How's that for a mixed metaphor?

Anyway, the only really interesting thing about the piece is that this used to be the kind of "scoop" that once came out of a newspaper in Madison or Milwaukee. Now it's coming from a website in DC. To the extent that there are any real "political" reporters left in Wisconsin, it would seem that their beat is quickly being outsourced to reporters who don't have to juggle police blotters and middle school bake sales.
